Why Choose Standard Nickel Plating Magnet?

Mature Process, Cost-Effective:

Electroplated nickel has decades of industrial application history with a stable process. Its batch processing cost is lower than that of electroless nickel or multi-layer Ni-Cu-Ni systems, making it suitable for high-volume production of magnetic assemblies.

Good Corrosion Resistance:

The standard nickel coating has a dense structure and typically achieves 120–200 hours in neutral salt spray (NSS) testing, meeting the anti-corrosion requirements for indoor and general industrial environments.

High Hardness and Wear Resistance:

As-plated hardness is approximately 400–600 HV with a smooth surface and strong scratch resistance, suitable for magnets that experience dynamic contact or friction during assembly.

Excellent Solderability and Conductivity:

The nickel coating surface can be directly soldered and offers stable contact resistance, facilitating electrical connection of magnets in electronic circuits.

Good Adhesion:

With optimized pretreatment and nickel plating processes, the coating adheres firmly to the NdFeB substrate, passing adhesion tests such as cross-cut and thermal shock, with no easy peeling or flaking.

Controllable Impact on Magnetic Properties:

Although electroplated nickel itself is weakly ferromagnetic, the coating thickness is very thin (typically 5–20μm), resulting in minimal reduction (typically <1%) of the remanence, coercivity, and maximum energy product of the NdFeB magnet – negligible for the vast majority of applications.

Customized Services of Standard Nickel Magnets

  • Our company delivers one-stop solutions including design, structural optimization and mass production for magnets.
  • Magnetization Direction – We support a wide range of magnetization patterns, including axial, radial, multi-pole, and skewed orientations, accommodating diverse custom magnetic circuit designs.
  • Shapes & Dimensions – Our standard product portfolio includes discs, blocks, rings, and cylinders. For advanced and specialized applications, we also produce complex geometries such as arcs, trapezoids, countersunk holes, and fully customized non-standard profiles to meet individualized production requirements.

Coating Type Color Key Features Functional Differences Salt Spray Test Duration (Hours)
Standard Nickel Magnet Bright silver Balanced corrosion protection and wear resistance; The most widely used general-purpose coating. 120 - 200
Black Nickel Magnet Matte black Non‑reflective black appearance, anti‑glare, good corrosion resistance Used in optical and specific industrial applications 48 - 96
Gold Plating Magnet Golden Excellent conductivity, biocompatibility, and luxurious appearance Good interlayer adhesion 12 - 72
Zinc Plating Magnet Silver-white / Blue-white Cost‑effective, compatible with adhesives Protects magnet via sacrificial anode principle. 12 - 48
Epoxy Coating Magnet Custom Superior as a barrier coating; electrically insulating; color customizable; Some grades tolerate up to 380°C. 72 - 108
Tin Coating Magnet Silver Usually applied in a standard Ni-Cu-Ni base, Tin top. Excellent solderability; soft surface that buffers impact; Suitable for electronic packaging. 36 - 72
Electroless Nickel Magnet Silver-white Very high corrosion resistance; Ideal for complex‑shaped magnets with demanding requirements. High‑phosphorus version is non‑magnetic; Extremely uniform coverage; 96 - 1000
