Customized Solution for Sintered NdFeB Irregular Magnets

 

1. Geometric Shape Customization: Beyond Standard Limits

Based on the 2D/3D drawings or samples provided by customers, we can manufacture magnets in any complex shape, including but not limited to:

  • Multi‑feature combinations (steps, counterbores, threaded holes, side holes, etc.)
  • Non‑circular contours (trapezoidal, sector, racetrack, elliptical, D‑shape, etc.)
  • 3D free‑form surfaces (curved, inclined, tapered, spherical, etc.)
  • Thin‑walled irregular parts (minimum wall thickness down to 0.8 mm), long narrow slots, precision edges with chamfers/radii

 

Processing techniques include: multi‑wire cutting, ID cutting, grinding (surface / ID/OD / form grinding), wire EDM, sinker EDM, CNC machining, ultrasonic drilling, etc.
Dimensional tolerances can be controlled within ±0.02 mm to ±0.05 mm, and for special requirements down to ±0.01 mm.

2. Magnetic Performance Customization: Grade Selection on Demand

We offer a complete sintered NdFeB grade system and can match the optimal solution based on operating temperature, maximum energy product, coercivity, and other parameters:

  • Standard N series: N35 – N52 (maximum operating temperature ≤80°C)
  • High‑temperature series: H (120°C), SH (150°C), UH (180°C), EH (200°C), AH (220°C+)
  • Low coercivity / high remanence: for applications requiring high remanence with low demagnetization risk
  • Customer‑specified grades: we can accept any grade designated by the customer

 

For special applications, we can also adjust the squareness (Hk/Hcj), maximum energy product ((BH)max), and temperature coefficient to ensure stable performance under extreme environments.

3. Surface Coating Customization: Adaptable to Any Environment

Sintered NdFeB is easily oxidized and must be protected with a coating. We recommend the optimal coating based on your actual application environment (humidity, salt spray, temperature, contact media, biocompatibility, etc.), or we can strictly apply the coating type you specify:

  • Nickel (Ni‑Cu‑Ni): Most common, salt spray ≥48 hours, bright appearance, suitable for most indoor environments
  • Zinc (Zn): Blue‑white or colored zinc, cost‑effective, red rust resistance ≥72 hours
  • Epoxy: Thickness 15‑30μm, good insulation, salt spray resistance up to 200 hours
  • Phosphate: Temporary anti‑rust primer, suitable for pretreatment before overmolding
  • Special coatings: Gold, silver, etc.

We can provide coating adhesion tests, salt spray test reports.

4. Magnetization Direction Customization: Realizing Complex Magnetic Circuits

The magnetization direction of an NdFeB irregular magnet is not limited to simple axial or radial orientation. We support multiple magnetization schemes:

  • Single‑direction magnetization: magnetized along a specific axis (e.g., length, width, thickness direction)
  • Multi‑pole alternating magnetization: forming N/S/N/S alternating poles on the same plane (number of poles can be specified from 2 to 32)
  • Radial / spoke magnetization: suitable for irregular rings or cylinders with a center hole – the magnetic field radiates outward from the center
  • Bevel / conical magnetization: for special angle sensors or magnetic encoders.
